Gold Kangaroos

The Gold Australian Kangaroo coin series, minted by the Perth Mint, continues to be a popular coin for collectors. The series began in 1987 and currently features the most recognizable symbol of Australia—the kangaroo. Each coin contains .9999 fine gold and is one of the few legal tender coins that changes design every year.
The coins are available in a variety of sizes, from 1/20 ounce to a kilo; however, we recommend the 1 ounce variety.

2019 One Ounce Silver Kangaroo

2019 Silver Kangaroo

The Silver Kangaroo coin, produced at the Perth Mint, honors the classic design that has been featured on the Australian Kangaroo gold kilo release for more than two decades. This is the first Australian coin to be struck to the purity of .9999 silver.

The obverse features the image of Queen Elizabeth II, showing the legal tender value of one Australian dollar at the bottom. The reverse features the unique marsupial found only in Australia, the kangaroo. Kangaroos immediately captured the imagination of explorers when they arrived in the South Pacific. Found only in Australia, the kangaroo is a unique species with a gait and movement unlike any other animal in the world. They hop across the open spaces of Australia on large, powerful legs, and use an oversized, muscular tail to help balance their bodies. Also included on the reverse is a new security detail, an authentication feature in the form of a micro-laser engraved letter ‘A’, which can be found within the first A of the word AUSTRALIA. Only detectable under a magnifying glass, it is designed to make the coin significantly more difficult to be counterfeited.

These legal tender coins are .999 fine silver and have a mintage of 500,000 coins.
